Example of the stride-to-stride fluctuations in the stride time as measured in two older adults: an older adult non-faller and an idiopathic faller. In both subjects, the stride time changes from one stride to the next. Although the mean values of the stride time are essentially identical in both subjects, the magnitude of the stride-to-stride fluctuations is much larger in the faller.
